Dharmeshwar Mahadev Temple, Udaipur
Mewar region has also been famous for Shiva worship. Here, the ancient Shiva temples situated amidst natural beauty attract the devotees. The temple of Dharmeshwar Mahadev is situated on the banks of Antevar Sagar in Thur, about fifteen kilometers away on Pindwara road from Udaipur. Dharmeshwar Mahadev is famous as the God who removes suffering.
The historical importance of this temple is that Dharmeshwar Mahadev is considered to be the worshipable god of Rana Kumbha. There are also statues of other gods in the temple. There are many old banyan trees here and the entire environment is full of natural greenery. There are many Dev Sthanaks, Dhunis etc. present in the temple premises. Beautiful divine pastimes have been depicted on the walls of this ancient temple.
Saint Nandpuri Maharaj was present in the temple here one hundred and fifty years ago. Stories of his miracles are often heard here. It is said that he was seen in many places at the same time. The travelers who went on pilgrimage from here saw him in the pilgrimage places and when they came here and inquired about it, they came to know that the saint was doing penance here and had not left the place anywhere.
Darshan timings in the temple:
The temple is open for darshan throughout the day. After Holi, a big fair is held in Dharmeshwar temple on Jamra Beej and Bhadvi Teras. In this, Gawari dance spreads its special charm.
