Prachin Pandeshwar Mahadev Mandir, Hastinapur
Pandavas worshiped this Shivalinga
Pandeshwar Mahadev Temple is located in Hastinapur near Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh. It is different from other temples because it is located in an old ruin. According to belief, the Shivalinga kept in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple was donated by Karna, who was the elder brother of the Pandavas. It is believed that the history of Pandeshwar Temple is more than five thousand years old and it is also mentioned in Hindu religious texts.
This temple is situated below the idol of Kali Mata on the top of a small hill. From here, a panoramic view of Hastinapur and the surrounding area can be seen. This huge fair is held every year on two Shivratris. Every day in Sawan, devotees worship Shivalinga after bathing them with Panchamrit – milk, ghee, curd, honey, Ganga water.
The hundreds of years old banyan tree and the cool water well situated in the temple premises are also popular. Along with other arrangements, the temple committee also arranges for food etc. for the devotees.
Temple Visiting Timings: The temple remains open for devotees throughout the day.
