Basti: Maa Kali temple situated near the railway station is established as Siddha Peeth. This place is included among the Shakti Peethas of Purvanchal. Whoever worships here with a true heart never remains sad. Mata Rani fulfills the wishes of her devotees. A huge crowd of devotees gather here during Navratri.

Bhandara, baby shower ceremony, Mundan, Upanayan ceremony and auspicious functions are often held in the court of Mother Goddess. This temple is filled with devotees on Navami day of Navratri.

Mother’s little finger had fallen here

It is said that this temple was established six hundred years before Christ. Mother’s little finger had fallen here. That is why it was considered as Siddha Peetha. Its description is also found in Devasur Sangram. Pandavas rested here during their exile. Mother Kunti had established the main Pidi and worshiped there. King Shuddhodhan, father of Lord Buddha, had built the temple here. According to folklore, King Vikramaditya had come here and performed penance. Mother had shown him the dream of establishing the city of Ayodhya.In the year 1950, Umashankar Shukla, a resident of Hardiya of Walterganj area, had renovated this temple with the help of the Basti royal family. Since then his descendants are under the protection and security of this temple.

Architecture

The construction of the temple dates back to before the British rule. The high-rise temple has been built using bricks and stones from ancient times. Pictures of gods and goddesses are carved on the carved walls. As soon as you enter the temple, it remains cool even in the scorching heat. The marble platform is filled with devotees in the morning and evening. Along with Pidi, the idols of Kalbhairav ​​and Hanuman ji are installed in the temple.

The temple is located just two hundred meters away from the railway station. Train travel is most convenient for people coming for darshan from outside. Passengers coming by bus can take an auto from the roadways and reach the railway station intersection. From here the temple can be reached by walking on the old Basti road.
