Unique idol of Ganeji, snake wrapped around its neck
In Bikaner, Rajasthan, where there is the famous Karni Mata temple, there is also a unique temple of Lord Ganesha. The specialty of this temple is the unique idol of Lord Ganesha installed here. This idol is different because there is a snake wrapped around the neck of this idol. However, a statue or photo of Ganesha with a snake wrapped around his stomach like a belt is definitely visible.
Generally, in the idols and pictures of Lord Shiva, a snake is seen wrapped around his neck, but there would hardly be any other such idol of Gauri, son of Ganesha, with a snake wrapped around his neck. This temple is situated on Dauji Road inside Kotgate in Bikaner city. Regarding the establishment of this temple, it is said that this temple was built in 1805 by Bakhtawar Singh, the Prime Minister of Bikaner Concession. Presently this temple is being maintained by Aadi Bhakta Mandal.
Gajanand’s consecration takes place here every morning. Apart from this, special adornment is done on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Then there is a queue of devotees to have darshan of the Lord. The temple is open for visitors in the morning and evening. The doors here remain closed during the day.
