Tulsi Shaligram Marriage
According to the Hindu calendar, Tulsi Vivah, the festival of union of Shaligram, the form of Lord Vishnu,
and Mother Tulsi is celebrated on the Udayvyapini Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month and in some states,
it is also celebrated on the day of Kartik Shukla Dwadashi. This year,
Tulsi Shaligram marriage will be organized on Thursday, 23rd November.
According to the mythological story of Padmapuran, due to the curse of King Jalandhar’s wife Vrinda,
Lord Vishnu became a stone, due to which the Lord is also called Shaligram and devotees worship him in this form also.
To get freedom from this curse, Lord Vishnu had to worship his Shaligram.

the Ekadashi of Shuklapaksha of Kartik month.
According to Padmapuran, Tulsi marriage is performed on the Navami of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month.
On this day, an idol of Lord Vishnu is made and he is married to Tulsi ji.
After marriage, fast is observed on Navami, Dashami and Ekadashi and it is written about eating food on Dwadashi date.
According to many ancient texts, Tulsi is established on the Navami of Shukla Paksha.
Many devotees perform Tulsi Vivah on Ekadashi of Kartik month and perform fasting rituals on Dwadashi.
Tulsi Vivah celebrated on the day of Devotthan Ekadashi is a purely auspicious and spiritual affair.

A banquet is organized after the marriage. Women who take bath in Kartik month also take Kartik Shukla.

If you can’t find these then you can take an idol of gold, brass or mixed metal or even a picture of Lord Vishnu as per your devotion. If no arrangement is possible, then on requesting the Pandit ji, he can bring the idol of Shaligram ji with him from the temple.
👉 First of all, worship Lord Ganesha, then while reciting mantras, bring the idol of Lord Vishnu near Tulsi ji along with musical instruments.

“Aagchha Bhagwan Dev Archayishyami Keshav. Tubhyam dasyami tulsim sarvakaamprado bhava.”

In ancient times, a demon named Jalandhar had created a lot of havoc all around. He was very brave and mighty. The secret of his bravery was the devotion to his wife Vrinda. Due to its influence he became omnipotent. Troubled by the disturbances in Jalandhar, the gods went to Lord Vishnu and requested for protection. Hearing her prayer, Lord Vishnu decided to break Vrinda’s devotion to her husband. On the other hand, her husband Jalandhar, who was fighting with the gods, was killed as soon as Vrinda’s chastity was destroyed.
When Vrinda came to know about this, she got angry and cursed Lord Vishnu, ‘Just as you have separated me from my husband by deceit, in the same way you too will suffer the separation of your wife in the world of death after your wife is kidnapped by deceit. Will take birth. Saying this, Vrinda committed sati with her husband. The Tulsi plant grew at the place where she sati.
According to another incident, Vrinda had cursed Lord Vishnu that you have violated my chastity. So you will be made of stone. Vishnu said, ‘O Vrinda! It is the result of your chastity that you will remain with me as Tulsi. The person who marries me with you will attain the supreme abode. Shaligram or worship of Lord Vishnu is considered incomplete without Tulsi Dal. The marriage of Shaligram and Tulsi is symbolic of the marriage of Lord Vishnu and Mahalakshmi.

Once there was a war between gods and demons, when Jalandhar started going to war, Vrinda said – Swami, you are going to war, as long as you are in war, I will sit in the puja and perform rituals for your victory, and until you return. I will not give up my resolve while leaving, Jalandhar went to war, and Vrinda took a vow to fast and sat in the puja, due to the effect of her fast, even the gods could not conquer Jalandhar. When all the gods started losing, they went to Lord Vishnu.
When everyone prayed to God, God said that Vrinda is my greatest devotee, I cannot cheat her but the God said – God, there is no other solution, now only you can help us.
The Lord took the form of Jalandhar and reached Vrinda’s palace. As soon as Vrinda saw her husband, she immediately got up from the puja and touched his feet. As soon as her resolve broke, the gods killed Jalandhar in the war. Diya and cut off his head, his head fell in Vrinda’s palace, when Vrinda saw that her husband’s head was chopped off Then who is this person standing in front of me? He asked who are you whom I touched, then God came in his form but he could not say anything, Vrinda understood the whole thing, she cursed God to become stone, God immediately became stone and all the gods. Lakshmi ji started crying and praying, then Vrinda ji returned the Lord to the same position and became Sati by taking her husband’s head.
When a plant emerged from his ashes, Lord Vishnu said that from today his name will be Tulsi, and one of my forms will remain in the form of this stone which will be worshiped along with Tulsi ji in the name of Shaligram and I will not accept the offering without Tulsi ji. It is believed that on Devprabodhini Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu wakes up after four months of sleep. From the religious point of view, it is popular that when Lord Vishnu had killed the demon named Shankhasur and due to that special hard work he slept on that day, after that he woke up on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, hence there is a special tradition of worshiping him on this day. In There is a popular story that Shankhasura was a very powerful demon, hence Lord Vishnu’s war with him continued for a long time. Ultimately, after the fierce battle, Lord Vishnu killed the demon Shankhasura on Shukla Ekadashi of Bhadrapada month. Lord Vishnu became very tired due to this war. Then to relieve his tiredness he returned to Kshirsagar and slept. He slept there for four months and woke up on the Ekadashi of Kartik Shukla Paksha. Then Lord Vishnu was worshiped by all the gods and goddesses. For this reason, this Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month is called Devprabodhini Ekadashi. Once, his beloved Lakshmi ji said to Lord Vishnu in a pleading tone – Oh Lord, now you stay awake day and night. But, once you sleep, you remain asleep for millions and millions of years. And at that time they also destroy all the pastures. Therefore, you should take rest as per the rules. If you do this, I will also get some time to rest. Laxmi Ji’s words seemed appropriate to God. He said, you are right. My waking up hurts all the gods and especially you. You don’t get time from my service. Therefore, from today onwards I will sleep during the rainy season for four months every year. This sleep of mine will be called short sleep and great sleep during the doomsday. This short sleep of mine will be extremely auspicious for my devotees. During this time, whichever devotee will serve me by thinking of my sleeping place, I will reside in their house along with you.
