Durvasa Dham of Azamgarh…where Trinity was defeated by Sati Anusuiya-

According to Hindu mythological beliefs, Maharishi Durvasa was the brother of Maharishi Dattatreya and Chandradev. Sage Durvasa is considered to be the Rudra incarnation of Lord Shiva.

Despite the mythological importance of Azamgarh (Azamgarh Mythological Impact), many parts of Durvasa, Dattatreya and Chandram Dham have fallen into disrepair. Which needs to be rejuvenated. The mythological history of the supreme power of Sati Anusuiya is written in Durvasa Dham of Azamgarh.Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh had placed a surprising condition regarding the chastity of a Maharishi’s wife. Sati Anusuiya fulfilled the wish of the Trinity, but whatever happened after that created turmoil in the entire creation. Trinity was not seen in the world for a few days.

Sati Anusuiya was the wife of Maharshi Atri. The brightness of his devotion to his husband was so intense that the gods felt the effect of his majesty while passing over his ashram. Once a debate broke out between Goddess Brahmani, Lakshmi and Parvati as to who is the best husband? All three asked the same question to their husbands i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh (Tridev). After which all three took the name of Anusuiya, wife of Maharishi Atri. The three ladies asked their husbands to test whether Sati Anusuiya was the one with universally accepted devotion to her husband.

Trinity took the test of Sati Anusuiya

After listening to the three goddesses, it was decided that the Trinity i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh would go to Maharishi Atri’s ashram in the guise of a Brahmin to test Sati Anusuiya. When all three reached there, Rishi Atri had gone out for some work. Sati Anusuiya welcomed the three Brahmin guests with great respect. All three told him that all three of us want to have food in your ashram. When Sati started preparing food, Tridev said that when you will keep aside your clothes and give us food, then only we will accept the food from your hand.

Sati Anusuiya fell into great religious trouble. Remembering God, she started saying that if I had never seen any other man equal to my husband, if I had never considered any god equal to my husband, if I had always been engaged in worshiping my husband with my mind, words and deeds. If I am alive, then due to the influence of my chastity, these three should become newborn babies.Accepting his prayer, the three gods became small children and started playing in the lap of Sati Anusuiya.

Proof of Anusuiya’s best chastity

When Maharishi Atri returned, he saw three children in his ashram and asked Sati about them. After which Sati Anusuiya told him the whole story. After this, Tridev had got the proof of the best chastity of Sati Anusuiya. But this incident created panic in the universe. The three gods who ruled the world were in Sati’s ashram as children. After which Brahmani, Lakshmi and Parvati discussed this with other gods. After this it was decided that everyone would go to Maharishi Atri’s ashram.

The Gods and Goddesses apologized to Sage Atri and Sati Anusuiya and requested Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh to bring them back to their form. Then Mother Anusuiya and Maharishi Atri asked the three gods to leave their respective parts here, so that all three of them could truly live as children in the ashram as their sons. Then, while leaving, the Trinity blessed Mother Anusuiya that all three of them would be born as her sons. After some time, Sati Anusuiya was blessed with three sons, Chandrama (form of Lord Brahma), Dattatreya (form of Lord Vishnu) and Durvasa (form of Lord Shiva).

Maharishi Durvasa Rudra incarnation of Lord Shiva

According to Hindu mythological beliefs, Maharishi Durvasa was the brother of Maharishi Dattatreya and Chandradev. Durvasa is considered to be the Rudra incarnation of Lord Shiva. He was known for his anger. He punished many people with his curse. Therefore, wherever he went, people respected him like a god, so that he remained happy and did not curse anyone in anger. In Azamgarh there are the abodes of the three sages Durvasa, Dattatreya and Chandrama. It is said that the Shivalinga present in Durvasa Dham has been established by Lord Shri Ram. According to mythological belief, Lord Shri Ram came here in Tretayuga, then Maharishi Durvasa’s ashram was here. This land has been the abode of spiritual sages. Azamgarh holds a special place in the spiritual world.

It is believed that the Trinity has special blessings on this earth. The ancient temple of Lord Shiva is present in Durvasa Dham, established on the banks of river Tamsa at the triangle of Phulpur, Nizamabad and Ambedkar Nagar. Devotees from every corner of the country come here in the month of Sawan.Devotees pray to Lord Shiva and Maharishi Durvasa to fulfill their wishes. It is believed that without performing Jalabhishek of the Shivalinga present in Durvasa Dham with the holy water of Tamsa River, the journey to the Dham is not successful.

The journey to Durvasa Dham is incomplete without Panchkosi Parikrama.

It is believed that unless the devotees who come to Durvasa Dham complete the Panchkosi Parikrama, they do not attain virtue. Chandramuni Ashram, Dattatreya Ashram and Durvasa Dham, part of the Trinity, are situated on the banks of river Tamsa. A distance of five kos is covered by circling these three holy places.Without visiting these three Dhams, the devotees do not get the virtuous benefits, hence all the devotees coming here definitely do Panchkosi Parikrama. Durvasa Dham is most recognized in Azamgarh. A big fair is organized here every year on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. About 10 lakh people visit this fair. Now there is a need for rejuvenation of all three Dhams. Despite having mythological importance, many parts of Durvasa, Dattatreya and Chandram Dham have fallen into disrepair.
