If we mention the ancient temples of New Delhi, then the name of Hanuman Temple located at Connaught Place is taken prominently. Hanuman ji is highly revered here because the revered Hanuman in this temple is self-manifested.
It is believed that at the time of establishment of Indraprastha, Pandavas had consecrated five Hanuman temples. This temple is one of those five temples. Later, this temple was renovated by the then Maharaja Man Singh and Jai Singh II of Amer, Jaipur.
There is also a belief that Goswami Tulsidas came here and visited this temple. Also, his famous composition ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ was also composed here.
This temple with Balachandra marked peak is the center of faith far and wide. Crown vases along with the moon have been installed on the peak. The main gate is made of silver. Here Hanumanji is shown as a child deity, whose face is towards the south. The special attraction of the temple is the 24-hour unbroken mantra chanting that takes place here. This chanting of the mantra ‘Shri Ram Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram’ has been happening continuously since August 1, 1964. This is the longest chant in the world and its recording is also included in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The temple can be visited throughout the day. Bhajan evenings and bhandaras are organized here every Tuesday and on Hanuman Jayanti.
