Riktya Bhairu is his real name.Place of birth is Khirod village of Nawalgarh Panchayat Samiti of Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. Thousands of families come every year to worship at the birth place. His descendants Goruram Bhinchar, Satish Bhinchar, Jagdish Bhinchar etc. live in this village. This family has good influence in the village. According to senior member Goruram, his Riktaram-Riktya was his grandfather. Childless couples come here to make a wish. When the vow is fulfilled, a goat is offered as a symbol of the living being in exchange for the living being.

Riktya was married to the daughter of Malaram Dahiya Jat of Malasi village in Churu district. It is said that this Malasi village was established by Malaram himself. Riktya was of a very cheerful nature. He had come to his in-laws’ house to pick up his wife. In the evening the women started singing Kukardala songs. The sisters-in-law and the years thought of the joke. They took Riktya to the well and hanged him upside down. In this joke he lost his hands and fell into the well.Riktya lost her life in this accident. After this incident, people from nearby villages gathered and unanimously decided that Janwai Riktya was sacrificed as a symbol of love for Ram and hence he would be considered a folk deity. He came to be worshiped as ‘Riktya Bhairu’. His temple is built on the well here. In some families there is a belief about the place of birth and in some about the place of in-laws’ house. But, at both the places fairs are organized on Chetra and Ashwin Navratri and special occasions. Devotees also come from Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat.
