Shri Mangesh Temple/Shree Mangueshi Temple Panaji, Goa
Where Lord Mangesh is worshiped in the form of Shivalinga-
Although Goa is famous for its beautiful beaches and churches, but here you can also see ancient temples. One such special temple is Shri Mangesh or Mangeshi Temple, which is about 20 kilometers from Panaji, the capital of Goa.
Situated amidst the Mongri hills in the Ponda area, this temple is hundreds of years old. This is the temple of Lord Shiva. Actually Mangesh is a form of Shiva. Mangesh Gaur is worshiped as the family deity or worshipable deity of Saraswat Brahmins throughout India. This temple is in the form of a Shivalinga.
Talking about the craftsmanship, the style of this temple is similar to that of Shantadurga Temple, another temple of Goa. There is also a water pond here, which adds to its natural beauty. All the pillars here are made of stone and there is also a grand lamp post in this temple. There is also a meeting room in the main room.
If you are going here for darshan, then apart from Shantadurga temple, you can also see the churches of this city and Rais Magos Fort. You can also enjoy sightseeing on the beaches.
Darshan timings in the temple:
The temple remains open for darshan throughout the day. Every Monday a Maha Aarti is performed here and the idol is taken out on a palanquin. Jatrotsav or Yatrotsav is also organized here in the month of Magh.
