Sun god

Share

Life cannot be imagined without the sun. Sun has been worshiped since the Vedic period. Sun God has been praised in the Vedas and hymns, but the question always arises in the mind that when did the Sun come into existence? What is the secret of their origin? It is mentioned in the scriptures that at the beginning of creation, the word ‘Om’ was pronounced from the mouth of Lord Brahma and this was the initial subtle form of the Sun. After this the words Bhu Bhuva and Swa came into existence. When these three words merged into ‘Om’ in the form of a body, the Sun got its physical form. It was named Aditya because it was born in the beginning of creation. So let us know Lord Surya Dev at whose feet our #Aditya_L1 will be established.

Brahma ji’s son Marichi and Marichi’s son Maharishi Kashyap were married to Prajapati Daksh’s daughters Diti and Aditi. Demons were born from Diti and gods were born from Aditi. From then onwards the fight between the demons and the gods started. Seeing this fight, Goddess Aditi became very sad and started worshiping the Sun. Sun God was pleased with his worship and gave him the boon of being born as a son. After some time, a brilliant child i.e. Lord Surya was born from her womb. Later he destroyed the demons. Because of his birth from the womb of Aditi, he was named Aditya.

Kalinga country is considered to be the birthplace of Surya. It is mentioned in the scriptures that his Gotra is Kashyap and Caste is Brahmin. To please the Sun, certain things are very important. Like jaggery, Guggal incense, red sandalwood, ark samidha and lotus flowers.

There is only one wheel in the chariot of the Sun and this is called Samvatsara. This chariot is pulled by seven different colored horses. The special thing is that the charioteer of this chariot is lame, the road is free, instead of the reins of the horse there is a rope of snakes.

In Shrimad Bhagwat Purana, one wheel of Surya’s chariot is Samvatsara and it has twelve aaras in the form of month, six in the form of season – Nemisha, three in the form of Chaumase – Nabhi. One end of the axis of the Rasa Rath is on the peak of Mount Meru and the other on the Manasarovar Mountain. In this chariot, the charioteer named Arun faces the Sun.

Lord Surya has two wives Sangya and Nikshubha. Sangya has many names like Surenu, Rajni, Dyu, Tvashtri and Prabha etc. and the other name of shadow is Nikshubha. Sangya Vishwakarma is the daughter of Tvashta. Lord Surya had ten children, Vaivaswatmanu, Yam, Yamuna, Ashwini Kumar Dwaya and Raavant from his wife and Shani, Tapati, Vishti and Savarnimanu from Chhaya.

Sun is the lord of Leo. Their Mahadasha lasts for 6 years. Favorite gemstone is Ruby. Surya’s favorite things are Savatsa cow, jaggery, copper, gold and red clothes etc. The metals of Sun are gold and copper. Surya’s chanting number is 7000.

Beej Mantra of Sun God

‘Om Hraam Hreem Hraum Sah Suryay Namah’. At the same time, the common mantra is- ‘Om Ghrini Suryay Namah’. If the Sun is weak, then by worshiping the Sun daily, offering food to the Sun, observing fast on Sunday and having darshan of the Sun daily, the Sun God becomes happy and strong.
