According to the Puranas, the gods who follow the ten directions have been called Dikpal. By Lord Brahma, the management of 8 directions was given to different Gods and Yakshas, ​​while the responsibility of 2 directions was kept by himself, hence he has been named as “Ashta-Dikpal”.

For example, Indra of the East, Vahri of the Agni corner, Yam of the South, Nairit of the South-west corner, Varun of the West, Marut of the Vayu corner, Kuber of the North, Ish of the North-east, Brahma of the upward direction and Anant (Sheshnag) of the downward direction, Dikpal are sure. Were done.

The number of Dikpal is considered to be only 8, the remaining two directions are owned by Lord Brahma.

According to the scriptures, there are 10 directions in our atmosphere whose names and order are as follows – North, North, East, South, South, South, West, North and South. There is also a middle direction. In this way there were 11 directions in total. A deity of each direction has been appointed who is called ‘Digpal’ i.e. the guardian of the directions. 1.Upward direction: The god of upward direction is Brahma. This direction has the most importance. Sky is God. The person who prays with his face upward, his prayers are effective. If you want to ask according to the Vedas, then ask from Brahma and the universe, not from anyone else. You get everything by asking him.

Vastu: The roof, balcony, skylight, window and the space in between represent this direction. Sky element brings peace to our soul. Throwing stones, spitting, throwing water, shouting or abusing while facing upwards i.e. towards the sky is prohibited in this direction. Its result is fatal.

2. North-east direction: The place where east and north directions meet is called north-east direction. According to Vastu, this place in the house is called Ishaan corner. Ishaan is also a name of Lord Shiva. Since Lord Shiva’s dominance is in the north-east direction, that is why this direction is called Ishan Kon. The ruling planets of this direction are considered to be Jupiter and Ketu.

According to Vastu, this part of the house, city and body is the most sacred, hence it should be kept clean and empty. Here water is established like well, boring, pot or place for drinking water. Apart from this, this place can also be made a place of worship. Keeping garbage, building a store, toilet, kitchen etc., keeping any heavy iron item is prohibited at this place. This leads to destruction of wealth and creation of misfortune.

3. East direction: After Ishan, comes the east direction. When the Sun is Uttarayan, it rises from the North-East and not from the East. The deity of this direction is Indra and the lord is Surya. East direction represents the father’s place.

Vastu: There should be some open space and slope in the east direction of the house. The entire eastern area of ​​the city and house should be clean and neat. You can keep a window, skylight or door in the house. There should be no obstruction in this direction. This place should not be a room for the senior citizens of the house and should not keep any heavy items. Do not even make stairs here.

4. Southeast direction: The direction between south and east is called southeast direction. Agnidev is the ruler of this direction. Venus is the lord of this direction.

Vastu: This direction in the house is a special place for kitchen or fire related items (electronic devices etc.). It is important for the south-east corner to be Vaastu-compliant for the good health of the residents. There should not be a bedroom or study area in the southeast corner. The door of the house should not be in this direction. This creates civil strife and also worsens the health of the residents.

5. South Direction: The presiding deity of the south direction is Lord Yamraj. Building in the south direction as per the rules of Vaastu brings happiness, prosperity and prosperity.

According to Vastu, the main door should not be in the south direction. Heavy household items should be kept in this direction. There should be no door or window in this direction. This space should not be kept empty. Keep heavy household items in this direction. If your house is in the southern part of the city then take Vastu measures.

6. South-west direction: The place between south and west direction is called south-west. This direction is under the dominance of Nairit Dev. The lords of this direction are Rahu and Ketu.

7. West Direction: The deity of the west direction is Varun and the planet Saturn is the lord of this direction. This direction symbolizes fame, fortune and reputation. The main entrance of the house should be in this direction.

Vastu: If the door is in the west direction, then do Vastu measures. If there is a door, keep the door decorated well. Do not allow any cracks to appear on the walls around the door and keep its color dark. There should not be a bathroom, toilet, bedroom in the west of the house. This place cannot be kept too open nor too closed.

8. North-West Direction: North-West direction is situated between North and West direction. The god of this direction is Vayudev and air element predominates in this direction.

Vastu: This direction affects your relationships with neighbors, friends and relatives. According to Vastu knowledge, good and useful relationships can be created with them. There should not be any kind of obstruction in this direction. Keep the space in this direction light. Make this direction beautiful with windows, doors, bells, water, trees and plants.

9. North Direction: Ravana’s brother Kuber is the ruler of the north direction. Kuber is also called the god of wealth. Mercury is the lord of the north direction. North direction is also called mother’s place.

Vastu: It is best if the main entrance of the house is in the north and north-east direction. Keeping vacant space or leaving raw land in this direction brings wealth and prosperity. Building toilets and kitchens in this direction, dumping garbage and keeping this direction dirty leads to destruction of wealth and creation of bad luck.

10. Adho DishaπŸ‘‰ The god of Adho Disha is Sheshnag who is also called Anant. Before construction of the house, Vaastu peace of the earth is done. Earth with good energy should be selected. The basement of the house, secret paths, wells, cisterns etc. represent this direction.

Vastu: If the soil inside the ground is yellow then it is very good and lucky. The land of your house should be clean. The land which is high in the east and south-east direction and sunken in the west and north-west direction, all the troubles of the people living on such land go away.

According to Varaha Purana, the story of the origin of Digpalas is as follows – When Brahma was thinking about the creation, at that time 10 daughters were born from his ears, out of which 6 were main and 4 were secondary.

3. Dakshina πŸ‘‰ which is called south direction.

7. North πŸ‘‰ Which is called north direction.

8. Aishani πŸ‘‰ which is called Ishan Disha.

9. Upward πŸ‘‰ Which is called upward direction.

10. Half which is called half direction.

Those girls bowed before Brahma and requested him for a place to live and suitable husbands. Brahma said- ‘You people can go wherever you wish to go. Soon I will give you a corresponding husband also.

According to this, those girls started in one direction each. After this, Brahma created 8 Digpals and called his daughters and gave one daughter to each Lokpal. After this, all those Lokpals went in their respective directions along with those girls. The names of these Digpalas are given below in the order of directions in the Puranas.
