Mangal Bhavan Amangal Haari …
Mangal Bhavan Amangal Haari …
This is a very popular Chaupai. We have often been hearing this unique Chaupai along with beautiful Kand recitation, in many bhajans, in songs of religious films and serials. Most of the devotees of Shri Ram who recite Shri Ramcharitmanas know this Chaupai by heart. But,
“Mangal Bhavan is inauspicious.
Dravau Sudsarath Ajir Bihari.”
This is not a part of Chaupai Sundar scandal. This is not even a complete quatrain. This quatrain is the second quatrain after the 111 couplet of Manas’ Balkand. whole quartet
“Bandun baalaroop soi raamoo. sab sidhi sulabh japat jisu naamoo..”
mangal bhavan amangal haaree.
dravu sudasarath ajir bihaaree..”
This melodious couplet describes Shri Ram ji’s childhood. This Chaupai has so much importance and immense popularity because When Mother Parvati ji asked Mahadev, the guru of all three worlds, to narrate the story of Raghunath ji because Mother Parvati ji had many questions. If Shri Ram is the son of a king, then why is there Brahma, why is there separation from women etc.
Hearing this, all the incidents of Shri Ramcharitmanas came to Lord Shiva’s heart. He drowned in the ocean of bliss for two moments. Remembering the character of Shri Ram, Lord Shiva’s body became thrilled.
In the form of ecstasy, Shivji experienced immense happiness and started describing the character of Shri Raghunath ji to Parvati ji. The world is false and Lord Shri Ram is the truth, this knowledge is the result of Ramcharitmanas. Saying this, Lord Shiva became very emotional and said this quatrain. “Shri Ram ji’s character is one of bringing good and defeating evil”, this saying of Lord Shiva was so pleasing to everyone that even today it is the identity of Chaupai Manas.

One does not become beloved of Ram merely by chanting Ram-Ram. One can become beloved of Shri Ram only by living a life like Shri Ram. If he had accepted the power of Ayodhya, he would have become King Ram, but by rejecting the power, he became the king of every heart.
There has never been a personality like Ram in the entire world. This is the quality of a good ruler, that he should personally reach the doorstep of the suffering people. A good son is the one who is ready to go from one place to another to protect his father’s honour. This is the quality of a good brother who gives up his own pleasures to give happiness to his brother.
Shri Ram had all the qualities of an ideal son, ideal father, ideal brother, ideal husband, ideal disciple, ideal friend, ideal king. If even one of his qualities comes within you, then you will understand that you have read the entire Ramayana. What is religion ? Look at the entire life of Lord Ram, you will understand.
..Jai Jai Shri Ram..
..har har mahaadev..
