Story of Shiva’s Siddheshwar Mahadev form in Ujjain
Ekachitra performed rigorous penance for many years, but he achieved nothing. He became angry and started criticizing the gods and their worship. He soon became an atheist.
One day Ekachitra had a dream in which he was asked to go to Mahakal forest (present day Ujjain) and worship a special Shivalinga.
Ekchitra searched for Shivalinga in Mahakal forest and prayed. Soon he attained many achievements. From that day, Shivalinga came to be known as Siddheshwar Mahadev.
