Ashwatthama comes to worship in the Shiva temple of Asirgarh Fort in Burhanpur.
There is a hundreds of years old Shiva temple in Burhanpur district, about which many legends are heard. There is a belief about the Shiva temple present in Asirgarh Fort situated on the Satpura hill, 25 km from the district headquarters, that even today Ashwatthama, son of Guru Dronacharya, comes here to worship Lord Shiva.
In the morning, even before the doors of the temple open, they leave after worshiping Lord Shiva in Brahma Muhurta. When the fort employees open the doors of the temple, they find bel leaves and flowers placed on the Shivalinga. Historians and saint community believe that this temple is from the Mahabharata period. With which the faith of Ashwatthama is connected. In the holy month of Shravan, a large number of devotees of Mahadev reach here by filling the water of Suryaputri Maa Tapti in Kanwar and anoint Lord Bholenath.
