This Shiva temple is situated in Sirutar village on the border of Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts. According to Himavat Purana, Daksha Prajapati had cursed the moon. On the advice of Brahma Ji, Chandrama went to Pashupati Tirtha near the Himalayas and worshipped Lord Shiva at the confluence of the Padam River and Kosi Ganga. And following Brahma Ji’s advice, Moon performed penance of Lord Shiva here on Kartik Ashtami. Lord Shiva freed Moon from the curse and on Moon’s request, Lord Shiva disappeared in the Shivlinga installed by Moon. Moon also performed Yashamegh Yagna here.
