It is believed that the journey to Char Dham is completed only after the stay in Machkund. In this fair, along with people from different districts of Rajasthan, devotees also come from Gwalior, Morena, Ayodhya, Vrindavan, Mathura and other places. Here also the saints and sages take the royal bath and after that the fair begins. This fair is organized on Rishi Panchami and Chhath, the next day of Ganesh Chaturthi.During this time, a large number of saints and sages arrive here with bands. It is believed that those who take bath in Machkund Sarovar on the day of Devchhath get virtuous benefits.

The belief of Machkund fair is that after the battle of Devasur, the atrocities of demon Kalayavan started increasing. Everyone was worried, then Lord Shri Krishna challenged Kalayavan to a war and fought with him. Leeladhar also had to face defeat in this war, then Leeladhar had killed Kalayavan by deceit through Machkund Maharaj,After which a wave of happiness ran among the people of Braj who were suffering from the atrocities of Kalayavan. From then till today, bathing festival is organized on the occasion of Devchhath, the Tapobhoomi of Machkund Maharaj.
