Sri Ayyappa Temple
Sri Ayyappa Temple
The origin of this Trust dates back to 1960 when a group of devotees at Perambur joined together with a view to creating an Sree Ayyappa temple for their locality. In 1987, the Perambur Sree Ayyappa Trust was formally formed as a registered trust, with its main objects as various charitable activities.
The ‘temple’ was originally housed in a small shed on the side of the road at Rama Chandra Iyer Street. It was in 1998, following a long struggle by the original group of devotees and members of the Trust, a struggle through which this group formed an impenetrable bond and persevered with a tremendous amount of focus and determination, that their dream of creating a temple was finally realized and the present Perambur Sree Ayyappa temple was consecrated by Sabrimala Tantri Brahmashri Maheshwararu.
Once the temple was created, the focus of the Trust was centered on temple setup, improving its facilities and various temple-linked activities. However, from the year 2003, the members of the Trust turned their focus tocon templating how the temple could benefit the society, apart from being a place of worship.
