*mohi samujhai kahahu soi deva. sab taji karaun charan raj seva. kahahu gyaan biraag aru maaya. kahahu so bhagati karahu jehin daaya.

Meaning:-O God! Explain to me and say only that, so that I leave everything and serve only your feet. Describe knowledge, renunciation and illusion and tell about the devotion due to which you show mercy.

*eesvar jeev bhed prabhu sakal kahau samujhai.

jaaten hoi charan rati sok moh bhram jai.

Oh, Lord! Explain the difference between God and living beings, so that I can have love at your feet and sorrow, attachment and confusion can be destroyed. Every curious person has these five questions.

1- What is called knowledge?
2- What is renunciation?
3- Tell the nature of Maya?
4- Tell the means of devotion, how to attain devotion?
5- Tell the difference between soul and God?

These five questions were asked by a seeker to a Siddha –

Lord Shri Ram listens to Lakshman ji and says –

I will tell you everything, extinguished. Sunhu Tat Mati Man Chitta Lai.

That is, I explain everything in a few words. This is the diversity that I explain more in a little –

First God has raised the question of Maya because Maya must be known first. God says that Maya is indescribable but still –

I am Aru Mor and you are Maya. Whose living bodies are there?

I, mine and yours – this is Maya, explained in just six words.

I means when ”I” comes then ”mine” comes and where there is ”mine” there is also ”yours” – so this difference is due to illusion.

For example, when uncle brought apples home, he gave two apples to his son and when elder brother’s son came, he gave him one apple. Because this is my son and he is my elder brother’s son. Just mine and yours – there is no need to go into further details, this difference is due to illusion only.

Two types of Maya have also been described – one is knowledge and the other is ignorance.
An evil person with extreme sorrow. Just go and get scared of living beings.
Just go to a created world. God is not inspired by his own strength.

Maya in the form of ignorance traps the soul in the cycle of birth and death, the soul keeps wandering in the cycle of birth and death. And the second one frees one from illusion in the form of knowledge.

Second question – What is called knowledge? Whom will we call knowledgeable?

One who is a great scholar, knows the scriptures, can give very good sermons, can explain principles with examples, has knowledge of Sanskrit and many other languages - Gyani!!!!

There is a difference between a Pandit and a Gyani, one can be called a Pandit but not a Gyani. Goswami Tulsidas ji has given a wonderful explanation of the wise –

Where there is no value of knowledge. See, all women are like Brahma.

Knowledge is called that – where there is no respect, that is, which is free from the conflict of respect and dishonor and which sees Brahma in everything. When one experiences the omnipresence of God through knowledge, one starts seeing God in everything.

Third question – Who will be called a recluse?

Our definition is that you are wearing Godly clothes or have run away from the world, have dreadlocks on your head, have a tilak on your forehead, have a rosary in your hand – Vairagi!!!!

Lord Shri Ram says –

kahi taat so param biraagee.Trin Sam Siddhi Teeni Gun Tyagi..

The ultimate recluse is the one who considers the accomplishments as insignificant as a straw. What is meant to say is that the one who does not get entangled in the entanglement of accomplishments and is the body which is the form of Teeni Guna Tyagi i.e. the three gunas of nature – the one who rises above it i.e. the one who has no attachment even to the body – he is the ultimate recluse.

Fourth question – Difference between living beings and God –

doha – maaya ees na aapu kahun jaan kahi so jeev .

bandh mochchh prad sarbapar maaya prerak seev ..

That is, the one who does not know Maya, God and himself – the one who gives bondage and salvation to the living being and the living being according to his karma – God.

Fifth question – What are the means of devotion by which devotion can be achieved?

Answer – Lord Shri Ram says –

bhagati ki saadhan kahun bakhaanee .sugam panth mohi paavahin praanee ..

I am telling you the means of devotion, through which a living being can find me very easily. First of all, move the feet of snakes. Vipra means one whose life is blessed with wisdom, worship the feet of such Vipras. Follow the path prescribed by the Vedas and perform your duties. This will lead to dispassion towards objects and when dispassion is generated, there will be love for the religion of God (Bhagwat). Then nine types of devotions like Shravanadi will come and there will be love in the pastimes of God.

Have love at the feet of the saints, worship God with mind, action and words and see only me in Guru, father, mother, brother, husband and god, worship everyone, serve everyone – if you do this, then understand that you have got it. Devotion!

Now how do we know whether we have received devotion or not????

So for this two more Chaupais have been mentioned –

mam gun gaavat pulak sareera.gadagad gira nayan bah neera ..

“Don’t get carried away by work etc.”

The one who does not have lust (vices), does not have pride (arrogance) and most importantly does not have arrogance (hypocrisy) – he is a devotee. God always remains under the control of such a devotee.

doha – bachan karm man mori gati bhajan karahin ni:kaam .

tinh ke hrday kamal mahun karun sada bishraam ..

*nar tan sam nahin kavaniu dehee. jeev charaachar jaachat tehee.

narak svarg apabarg nisenee. gyaan biraag bhagati subh denee.5.

5॥
*so tanu dhari hari bhajahin na je nar. hohin bishay rat mand mand tar.

Meaning:- Those people who do not worship Shri Hari even after assuming (attaining) a human body and are engrossed in the subject, get pieces of glass like a despicable person by throwing away a precious stone.

Jai Shri Ram
