Despite being two, there is one banana leaf, know the unique story of Ram and Hanuman
The relationship between Lord Ram and Hanuman ji is unique. The love of both is unbreakable. That is, despite Ram and Bajrangal Bali having two bodies, the soul is one. An interesting story is told about this.
When Lord Shri Ram defeated Ravana along with his army and returned to Ayodhya with Sita ji. Where a big banquet was organized to celebrate his return. All the people of Vanar Sena were also invited. But after all, they were all monkeys living in the forests, weren’t they? He did not recognize common social rules.
Therefore, Monkey King Sugriva ji explained a lot to them all. He said – Look, here we are guests and the people of Ayodhya are our hosts. All of you behave with good manners here. So that we people do not consider people of the monkey community to be devoid of manners, take special care of this.
All the monkeys obeyed their king and were ready to maintain the honor of their society. Then a monkey came forward and with folded hands said to Monkey King Sugriva, “Lord, we will try to keep our conduct good, but we remain monkeys. There may be a mistake somewhere. So it is possible that before the people of Ayodhya our image is not good are. For this, I pray that you make someone our leader, who will not only guide us but will also make arrangements for our seating etc. smoothly. If monkeys start fighting among themselves for something, our image may get tarnished.” After listening to that intelligent monkey, Hanuman, the most knowledgeable among the monkeys and most loved by Shri Ram, was made the leader of all.
On the day of the feast, Shri Hanuman kept arranging everyone’s seating etc. When Hanuman ji reached near Shri Ram after seating the entire monkey army properly, Shri Ram told him with great love that you too should sit and eat with me.
Now Hanuman got into trouble. Sitting equal to God was not in his plan. They were going to take food as Prasad only after their Lord had eaten it. There was neither a place to sit for them nor a banana leaf to serve food.
That’s why poor Hanuman was in a dilemma. They could neither dare to defy the Lord’s orders nor could they sit down to eat with him. But God knows the thoughts of the devotee, right? So he came to know that there is neither a banana leaf nor a place for his Hanuman. Then by supernatural grace he increased the space for Hanuman to sit with him. (Those who created such a big world also created a little more space). But God did not create an extra banana leaf.
Instead, the Lord said, “O my dear Hanuman, who is loved like a younger brother and a son. You eat with me on my own banana leaf. Because the devotee and the Lord are one and the same. If anyone worships Hanuman, he will attain only me.” (This statement of God is the basic philosophy of Advaita i.e. monotheism.)”
On this Shri Hanuman ji said, “O Lord, no matter how much you tell me to be equal to you, I will never be you, neither can I be nor do I have any desire to be. (This is duality, i.e. the difference between the soul and Brahma. Maryada). I have always been your servant, and will remain so. My place was and will always be at your feet. I cannot eat with you.”
When Hanuman ji refused to eat food with the Lord. Then Shri Ram drew a line in the middle of the banana leaf with the middle finger of his right hand. Due to which that card remained one and also became two. In one part the Lord had food and in the other half he served food to Hanuman ji. That is, as a symbol of both the unity and duality of the soul and the Supreme Soul, the banana leaves are still one despite being two and one despite being two. That means Advaita in duality.
This is the system of creation. Which shows the relationship between Brahma and the living being i.e. Advaita in Dvaita. If you understand this then salvation of life is certain. Its tangible symbol is the banana leaf.
