How Lahar Ki Devi Temple was built:

This temple is situated in Sipri of Jhansi. This temple was built during the powerful Chandela rule of Bundelkhand. The name of the king here was Parmal Dev. He had two brothers. His brothers’ names were Alha-Udal. Queen Machhala of Mahoba was kidnapped by Raja Jwala Singh of Pathrigarh. In order to overcome Jwala Singh and bring back the queen, Alha had sacrificed his son in front of his brother in this temple. However, this sacrifice was not accepted by the Goddess. The goddess brought that child back to life. It is believed that the stone on which Alha sacrificed her son is still safe in this temple.

The idol installed in this temple is called the Goddess of Waves. She is also known as Maniya Devi. It is said that she is the sister of Mother Sharda. Standing on 8 stone pillars, this temple has eight Yoginis inscribed on each pillar.In such a situation, 64 yoginis are present here. Temples of Lord Siddhivinayak, Shankar, Shitala Mata, Annapurna Mata, Lord Dattatreya, Hanumanji and Kaal Bhairav ​​are also situated in the temple complex.

It is believed that the idol of the Goddess of Waves present in this temple changes its form three times a day. In the morning, Mother Goddess is seen in childhood, in the afternoon, in youth and in the evening, Mother Goddess is seen in mature state. Mother’s makeup is done differently in every hour. It is also said that the water of Pahuj river reaches the entire area with time. The waves of this river touch the feet of the Mother Goddess. Due to this, the idol of the mother installed in this temple is called the Goddess of Waves.
