Gaya’s Ramshila Shiva temple is amazing, it is said – Shri Ram himself established the crystal Shivalinga here.
Ramshila Shiv Temple is situated on the Gaya-Patna main road in the northern direction of the city. Due to the mythology of the temple, crowds of Shiva devotees gather here throughout the year. The temple is hundred feet high. The temple is situated at the foothills of Ramshila mountain. The temple is made of lime, mortar and stone. In which Shivalinga made of crystal stone is situated. Along with this, there are idols of gods and goddesses like Ganesha, Kartikeya, Surya, Gauri, Vishnu, Bajrang Bali etc. made of coral stone. 50 idols of gods and goddesses are installed in the temple.
History of the temple
The history of Magadha is quite ancient. People believe that Shivalinga was established by Lord Shri Ram. Because Ramkund is situated near the temple. Lord Shri Ram has come to Gayaji for Pind Daan. After taking bath in Ramkund, Shivalinga was established. Such a temple has been built by Raja Gopal Sharan Singh of Tikari. Which was constructed about two hundred years ago. It is said that wishes are fulfilled just by seeing the Shivalinga here.
