Shri Hanumanji and Yama
Hanumanji’s encounter with Yama occurs when Hanumanji goes to Lanka to find Mother Sita.
After successfully completing the search for Mother Sita, Hanumanji allowed himself to be bound by Meghnath in Ashok Vatika, keeping the honor of Brahmastra.
After being tied, Hanuman ji was taken to Ravana’s court where Hanuman ji explained to Ravana and also warned him but the arrogant Ravana ignored the warnings and set Hanumanji’s tail on fire.
Hanumanji immediately leaves Ravana’s court and decides to burn Lanka.
Ravana’s soldiers failed to capture Hanumanji and Hanumanji started burning Lanka, there was an outcry in the whole Lanka.
Ravana then sends Yama, the Hindu god of death, to capture Hanumanji.
Ravana had captured Yamraj and imprisoned him with Rudra Mantra.
Yama was no match for Hanumanji, who was the form of Kaal Mahakaal (Shiva) of Rudra Kalo.
Hanumanji increased the size of his body and caught Yama and swallowed him.
Within no time there was an uproar in the universe. There was to be no death. Chaos would spread.
Then ShriBrahma ji goes to Hanumanji and requests him to release Yama. Hanumanji agreed to release Yama, provided that Yama would sit on Ravana’s head and kill him quickly. Yama agrees and Hanuman ji leaves them.
Yama also gives a boon to Hanumanji that the devotees of Hanumanji will be able to overcome the fear of death.
