Chandi form of Mother Sita
Lord Shri Ram was sitting in the Rajya Sabha at the same time Vibhishan reached there. They looked very frightened and in a hurry. As soon as he entered the meeting he started saying – O Ram! Save me, Kumbhakarna’s son Moolkasur is causing trouble. Now it seems that neither Lanka nor my kingdom will survive.
On being consoled by Lord Shri Ram and telling him the whole story, Vibhishana told that Kumbhakarna had a son born in Moola Nakshatra, hence his name was Moolkasur. The unlucky person Kumbhakarna had thrown it in the forest. The bees raised Moolkasura in the forest. When Moolkasur grew up, he pleased Lord Brahma by performing severe penance. Now, boasting about the blessings and power given by them, they have created a terrible havoc. When he comes to know in the forest that you have conquered Lanka by destroying his family and have handed over the kingdom to me, he is angry.
Lord, a few days after you handed over the throne to me, he reached Lanka with the people of Patal and attacked me. I fought for 6 months, but Brahmaji’s boon made him so powerful that I had to run away and somehow escaped through the tunnel and reached here with my son, ministers and wife.He said, ‘First I will kill the treacherous spy Vibhishana and then I will also kill Ram who murdered my father. He must be coming to you also. Time is short, both Lanka and Ayodhya are in danger. Do whatever you think is right immediately.
Hearing the call of the devotee, Shri Ramji prepared the army along with Hanuman and Lakshman and immediately boarded the Pushpak vehicle and headed towards Lanka.
When Moolkasur came to know about the arrival of Shri Ramchandra, he also came outside Lanka with his army to fight. A terrible war broke out. A fierce battle continued for 7 days. Moolkasur was single-handedly overpowering Lord Shri Ram’s army.
All the ministers like Sumantra etc. also arrived from Ayodhya. Hanumanji was bringing Sanjivani and reviving the monkeys, bears and human army. But despite everything, the outcome of the war did not seem to be in their favor. Even God was worried.
Vibhishana told that at this time Moolkasur has gone to the secret cave to do Tantra-Sadhana. At the same time Brahmaji came there and started saying to God – ‘Raghunandan! I have given him the blessing of dying at the hands of a woman. Your efforts will go in vain.
Shriram, there is one more thing related to this, it can be beneficial to know it also. When his brothers were killed in the war in Lanka, one day he said sadly among the sages, ‘My entire clan has been destroyed because of Chandi Sita’. On this a sage got angry and cursed him – ‘Wicked! The same Sita whom you have called ‘Chandi’ will take your life. All the sage had to say was that he ate them and the rest of the sages quietly slipped away out of fear of him. So hey Ram! There is no other solution now. Now only Sita can kill him. You call him here and get him killed, saying this Brahmaji went away.
Lord Shri Ram immediately sent Hanumanji and Garuda to bring Sitaji in Pushpak Viman.
Here Sita used to pray to Gods and Goddesses, used to make rounds of Tulsi, Shiva idol, Peepal etc., used to make Brahmins chant ‘Path, Rudriya’, used to worship Durgaji so that the victorious Shri Ram should return soon. Just then Garuda and Hanumanji reached them.
Sitaji immediately left after hearing her husband’s message. Lord Shri Ram told him everything about Moolkasura. Then Goddess Sita got angry. Another demonic power came out from his body, its voice was very terrifying. This shadow Sita proceeded towards Lanka in the guise of Chandi.
Here Shri Ram signaled the monkey army to go to his secret cave and destroy the tantric activities that Moolkasur was doing. When the monkeys reached inside the cave and started creating havoc, Moolkasur, gnashing his teeth, left everything and ran after the monkey army. His crown fell in his haste. Still running, he came to the battlefield.
Seeing Sita in the battlefield, Moolkasur roared, Who are you? Run away right now. I don’t project masculinity on women.
Shadow Sita also said in a fierce voice, ‘I am your death Chandi. You had eaten the sages and Brahmins who took my side, now I will take revenge by killing you. Saying this, shadow Sita shot 5 arrows at Moolkasur. Moolkasur also fired arrows in response. There was a fierce battle for some time, but in the end, by using ‘Chandikastra’, Chhaya Sita blew off the head of Moolkasur and it fell on the doorstep of Lanka.
The demons ran here and there, howling. The shadow returned to Sita and entered Sita’s body. The people of Lanka, saddened by Moolkasur, hailed Mother Sita and Vibhishana thanked her. After staying in Lanka for a few days, Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya along with Sita by Pushpak Viman.
