Why is old Hanuman ji worshipped?

According to the story of Mahabharata period, Bhima had become very proud of his powers. To shatter Bhima’s pride, Hanumanji took the form of an old monkey on Tuesday and defeated Bhima. Since then this day started being celebrated by the name of Budha Mangal.
During the Ramayana period, when Hanumanji reached Lanka in search of Mother Sita, Ravana insulted him by calling him a monkey. To shatter Ravana’s pride, Hanumanji had taken the form of an old monkey. Bajrangbali had assumed a gigantic form and had shattered the pride of Lanka’s ruler Ravana by burning Lanka with his tail.
