Sri Thimmaraya Swamy Temple -Anekal
Sri Thimmaraya Swamy temple is located at Anekal in Bangalore Districts a very famous temple and here the Lord Thimmaraya Swamy is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Tirupati Balaji and is Swayambu and born out of Valmika.
The huge temple gopuram is very beautiful and unique.Though the entrance for Thimmaraya sannidhi is in the back, in front a small temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is seen.
It is said that the temple was built by the local Palegar, Sri Thimme Gowda. According to local legend the Palegar had a dream of a cow standing on the Ant Hill (Snake Pit) with milk flowing from its udder.
When the dream was repeated every night, he started looking for the place in his dream, trying to find it. To his astonishment he found it to be reality.To find out the truth he ordered his soldiers to dig the ant hill and to his surprise found the Lord Srinivasa idol there.He retrieved the idol and he immediately decided to build the temple for the Lord Venkateshwara at the same place where the idol was found and hence this temple is been visited by lot of devotees in and around Anekal.
Thimmaraya temple is also famous for the Karaga festival which is quite popular in the surrounding districts. During the Karaga fair and festival the idol of Lord Venkateshwara is placed on the chariot and the procession is held around the village. Thousands of devotees visit this temple during this popular Karaga festival and seek the blessings of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy.
