Importance of SHIKHA

Share

Wearing Shikha (peak) on the head has extraordinary significance in Vedic religion. After the birth of every child, after the Mundan Sanskar, there is a tradition of placing a braid shaped like the hoof of a newborn cow on that particular part of the head.

This is the same place where the Sushumna Nadi passes through the middle part of the back and ends at the top and from it many subtle Vata Nadis begin to operate the Vata system of various parts of the head.

Sushumna Nadi controls the Vata system of the entire body.
If any nerve emanating from it becomes sluggish due to any reason, then that organ is said to be paralyzed. The entire body gets power only from the Sushumna Nadi.

At the same place on the head where the braid is placed, there is a place for the cerebrum under the bone which is of the same size as the hoof of a newborn cow and the braid is equally big and is placed on top of it.

Hair produces heat. There is a store of electricity in the hair which keeps providing as much heat to the Sushumna Nadi as it requires to awaken and stimulate the Vata Nadi system of the entire body.

Due to this, the Vata Nadi system of the human being remains awake as per the need and gives strength to the entire body. There is no fear of paralysis in any organ and at the same time the micro-brain keeps developing, in which the sanskars of previous births and the present birth are stored.

The part of Sushumna which controls the cerebrum makes it conscious with the heat received from the crest, it also develops memory power.

The provision of keeping shikha is found at many places in the Vedas, see –

Shikhibhyah Swaha (Atharvaveda 19-22-15)
Meaning: May there be prosperity for those who wear the braid.

Yashseshriya Shikha.-(Yaju 19-92)
Meaning: Wear a Shikha on your head to attain fame and Goddess Lakshmi.

Yajnikaingourdanni Marjani Gokshuravaccha Shikha.-(Yajurvediya Kathshakha)
That is, the person receiving Yagya rights should keep a braid on his head at a place equal to the hoof of a cow (equal to the hoof of a calf born to a cow).

keshaanaan shesh kaaranan shikhaasthaapanan.

kesh shesh kaaranam iti mangal hetoh..-(paaraskar grhyasootr)

Meaning – Whenever you cut the hair of your head after the Mundan Sanskar, then cut the rest of the hair except the peak hair, it is auspicious.

-(Katyayana Smriti)
Meaning: Always wear the sacred thread and always keep it tied in a knot. Do not perform any Yajna Sandhyopasnadi act without Shikha and Yajnopavita, otherwise it is equivalent to not doing it.

Wearing a big shikha increases strength, age, sharpness, intelligence, wealth and memory.

An English doctor Victor E Cromer has written in his book ‘Virilkalpak’, the meaning of which is as follows:-
Ojas Shakti appears while meditating. By concentrating the power of thought on an object, the energy starts running towards it.

If attention is concentrated on God, then Ojas Shakti enters the brain through the top of the head.

The power of God comes within man through this path. Yogis with subtle vision can also see the exceptionally beautiful colors of these two powers.

Below the place where there is a crest, there is a gland which is called Pittauri gland. It produces a juice which makes the entire body and intellect sharp, healthy and long-lived. Its working power depends on the reaction of the large hairs of the top and the sun.

I am convinced that every rule of the Aryans is full of science. Keeping the braid is not only a religious symbol of the Hindus but is also a unique miracle discovered by the sages to protect the Sushumna.

By keeping the crest tufted and tying a knot in it, the ancient Aryans were blessed with brilliance, intelligence, longevity and strength.

To protect the Shikha and sacred thread, lakhs of Indians considered it appropriate to sacrifice their lives in wars with the heretics.

Thousands of Indians like Maharana Pratap, Veer Shivaji, Guru Gobind Singh, Veer Hakikat Rai etc. sacrificed their lives to protect the peak and the sacred thread during the difficult times of Muslim rule. Today’s human beings of Babu type have converted the same peak and the sacred thread into slaves of English. How sad it is that cultural symbols (choti and sacred thread) are being abandoned.

He feels guilty and inferior in wearing these extremely useful religious and health enhancing symbols, but he does not feel any shame in urinating while standing while wearing trousers, a symbol of Christian slavery, which is a sign of English slavery, which is harmful from the health point of view and from the Indian point of view It is a sign of extreme rudeness.

Women having long hair on their heads should not keep separate braids as it suits their body structure and their physical electricity. Women should not cut their hair.
