Moteshwarnath temple has been the center of Shiva devotion for hundred years, every wish is fulfilled by doing Abhishek here in Sawan.

Moteshwarnath temple located in Pipraich of Gorakhpur district has been the center of faith of devotees for hundred years. There is an influx of Shiva devotees here throughout the month of Sawan. Every day a large number of devotees perform Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek here. There is a belief among the devotees about this temple that every wish of the devotees made with true heart is fulfilled here.

According to folklore, about a hundred years ago a farmer of the village was clearing bushes for the purpose of building a barn. His spade hit a stone, which he thought was a small stone and tried to uproot it but it did not move. The marks of spade are still visible on Shivling. The farmer informed this in the village. The villagers installed the Shivalinga at the same place. Later the temple was constructed.

Features of the temple

The temple management and Shiv Sevak Committee make arrangements for accommodation, food and medicines etc. for the devotees coming to the temple in the month of Sawan. CC cameras have also been installed at main places of the temple. There is a constant flow of devotees here throughout the month of Sawan. In such a situation, full care is taken of their safety.

The temple complex also has the idol of sleeping Bhima, Vishwakarma temple, idols of Shani Dev, Sai Baba, Hanuman ji, Durga ji, Bhaironath and Yagyashala, Dharamshala and lake.
