Sunasir Nath Temple Mallavan,Hardoi
Despite millions of efforts, Aurangzeb could not destroy the Shivalinga of this temple, the Mughal army ran away after seeing the miracle.
Sunaseer Nath temple located in Mallawan area near Hardoi is a witness to the barbarity of the Mughal period. Aurangzeb’s soldiers had tried to use saws on the Shivalinga present in this temple, but even after trying, they could not destroy it.
Sunasir Nath Temple is situated in Mallavan area, about 60 kilometers away from Hardoi district headquarters of Uttar Pradesh. Shivling is present in this temple. Here Lord Shiva is known as Sunasir Nath. This temple is said to be hundreds of years old. It is said that the Shivalinga present in this temple was established by Indradev. This temple is still the center of people’s faith. Every year a huge crowd of devotees gather here during Mahashivratri and the month of Sawan. This temple situated in Mallavan is also called Chhota Kashi.

Aurangzeb had used a saw on the Shivalinga of the two hundred year old Sunasir Nath Shiv Temple, the marks of which are still present on the Shivlinga. Also, a barbaric robber had looted an urn of 2 quintals of gold lying on the ground from the Sunasir Nath Temple. It is situated in Mallawan, Hardoi. The temple called Chhota Kashi is a witness to the barbarity of the Mughal period.

Sunaseer Nath temple is a witness to the barbarity of the Mughal period. It is said that earlier this temple had gold urns, doors and ground studded with coins, but in the 16th century, Mughal emperor Aurangzeb attacked the temple to loot its gold. But when the people of Gaurakheda area got wind of Aurangzeb’s attack, they came to fight him. However, he could not last long in front of Aurangzeb’s heavy army and had to face defeat. After this, Aurangzeb and his soldiers looted the two gold urns in the temple, the gold coins studded in the floor and the gold bells and doors. Not only this, he also ordered the demolition of the temple and tried to destroy it by running a saw on the Shivalinga. But he failed to destroy this Shivalinga.
Could not destroy Shivalinga even if I wanted to
When Aurangzeb, after looting the gold and coins, ordered his soldiers to dig up and uproot the Shivalinga. But as soon as the soldiers started digging to uproot the Shivalinga, the depth and size of the Shivalinga started increasing. Seeing the soldiers failing, he used a saw and ordered to cut the Shivalinga. It is said that as soon as the soldiers started cutting the Shivalinga, a stream of milk started flowing from the Shivalinga. Not only this, innumerable Barayas emerged from that Shivalinga and attacked the army. These baryaas chased away the entire army. Then with great difficulty somehow the army and Aurangzeb saved their lives.
Saw marks are still present on Shivalinga
The marks of brutality of the Mughals are still present on that Shivalinga. You can still see the marks of saw on the Shivalinga of this temple. This temple has remained the center of people’s faith for hundreds of years. Even today people from all over the country and abroad come here and pray to Mahadev. There is a gathering of devotees here during the days of Sawan. On Monday of Sawan, devotees come here from far and wide to perform Jalabhishek of the Lord.
