Chaurasi Ghanta Mandir
Chaurasi Ghanta Mandir : Chaurasi Ghanta Temple located on Badaun Road is one of the major temples of the city. This temple is a big center of faith for the devotees. Devotees from nearby as well as distant cities come here to have darshan.It is believed that all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled only by visiting here. When their wishes are fulfilled, devotees offer a bell in the temple of Mata Rani. At present there are more than one lakh bells in this temple.
History of the temple
The temple was constructed in the year 1969. People living nearby say that late Umashankar Garg had taken a plot to build a house here. While the foundation was being dug, Mata Rani appeared in the dream of his wife, late Shakuntala Devi, and asked her to build a temple before building a house.
When Shakuntala Devi told this to her husband, Umashankar first built a temple of Goddess Durga on the roadside. Offerings were made in the temple for 84 hours in a single day.
Features of the temple
The flame was lit for the first time in the temple on 12 October 1969. The specialty of the temple is that the unbroken flame of the Mother Goddess has been burning here continuously since then. Along with the goddess idols, statues of Shiva family, Ramdoot Hanuman and Lord Radha-Krishna are installed in the temple. During the days of Navratri, there are queues of devotees from morning till night to have darshan and worship of Mata Rani.
