Story of linga importance-
Mahadev narrated the story of King Anamitra of Rathantar Kalpa of Goddess Parvati who was religious, Mahatma and rich in bravery. Parvatputri Giribhadra was his beloved queen. When he had a son, he was Jatismar (having memory of previous birth). When asked, he said that everyone is interested in selfishness, I will not be able to do you any favor. The mother abandoned her son in the brothel, Jatisara abducted him and placed him on the bed of Haimini, the wife of King Vikrant.
Whereas the Brahmin’s son was taken away by that demon. When Anamitra’s son living at Vikrant’s place named Anand and Vikrant’s son Chaitrastha living at Brahmin Bodh’s place remembered his caste pride and lineage. Then he worshiped this divine Shivling located in Mahakal forest, in which not only the sins of his previous births were destroyed, he went back to his respective lineage and proved to be a strong devotee. Due to being worshiped by the king’s son Anand, it became famous by the name of Anandeshwar Linga.
One who visits Anandeshwar becomes united with his son and grandson, his sins are reduced and he becomes full of devotion. He gets rid of birth and death.
