Once Mother Parvati asked Shivji where her son Veerak was, then Shivji said that your son is doing penance in Mahakaal forest. On this Parvati told Shiva that she wanted to see him, so he should also come with her. Both of them rode on Nandi and set out for Mahakal forest. On the way, they stopped for some time at a mountain due to fear of Parvati. Shivji told Parvati that you wait here for some time and I will return after seeing the mountain. A group named Kund will be in your service and will obey your orders.  10 years passed for Shivji to roam the mountains. When Shiva did not return, Parvati started mourning. He ordered Kund Gana to give him darshan of Shiva. When Kund could not get darshan, Parvati cursed him to go to the human world.Meanwhile Shiva appeared there. Parvati told Kund to go to Mahakal forest and stand there in the form of Bhairav. There is a Shivalinga in the north direction which fulfills all the wishes. Worship him. Shivling’s name Kundeshwar will be famous after your name. With the permission of Parvati, Kund saw Shivalinga in Mahakaal forest and worshiped it and attained Akshaya status. It is believed that just by seeing Shivalinga one gets the fruits of pilgrimage.
