There is such a temple of Lord Shiva in the country which opens only once in a year. Thousands of people come here to have darshan.

The name of this temple is Someshwar Mahadev Temple which is present in Raisen Fort of Madhya Pradesh. There is a controversial history associated with this temple, that is why its doors open only once a year on Mahashivratri. The doors of Someshwar Mahadev open at 6 am on the day of Shivratri and it is believed that they close at 12 noon.

Crowds of people gather here for darshan. A grand fair is also organized here during Shivratri. Although the doors of the temple are closed, people bow before Lord Shiva from outside and offer prayers. Apart from this, devotees even tie a cloth at the gate here to fulfill their wishes.

It is said that this temple was built in the 12th century. It was closed long ago due to a dispute with the Mughal ruler. The doors of this temple remained closed till 1974, but after a campaign its doors were opened. From then till now this temple is opened for a few hours on the day of Shivratri. The special thing is that this temple is located near the famous tourist destination Raisen Fort. Tourists coming here also come to see this temple.
