Bhangarh Fort situated in Alwar district of Rajasthan is considered to be a fort of ghosts. It is said that even today the screams of Princess Ratnavati keep echoing in this fort. This fort is more famous by the name Bhangarh of ghosts. The story of Bhangarh is very interesting. Bhangarh was settled in the 16th century. Bhangarh flourished for 300 years. Then here Sindhu Sevda, an expert in black magic, becomes enamored with a beautiful princess. He does black magic to subdue the princess, but he himself becomes its victim and dies, but before dying, he curses Bhangarh for destruction and coincidentally, a month later, everyone including the princess dies in a battle with the neighboring kingdom of Ajabgarh. The people of Bhangarh are killed and Bhangarh becomes deserted. Bhangarh became deserted since then and is deserted till today and it is said that the ghosts of the people killed in that battle still wander in the fort of Bhangarh at night because due to the curse of the Tantrik, they could not be freed. So this is the story of Bhangarh which seems like a film but is real.

Introduction

Bhangarh Fort is located in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The world famous Sariska National Park is at a distance of a few kilometers from this fort. Bhangarh is protected by hills on three sides. From a strategic point of view, this is a suitable place for any state to operate. From security point of view it has been divided into parts. First of all there is a big rampart which has connected the hills on both sides. Hanuman ji is seated at the main gate of this rampart. After this the market starts, after the end of the market, Tripolia Gate is built to divide the palace complex. After this the Raj Mahal is situated. There are many temples in this fort, among which the temples of Lord Someshwar, Gopinath, Mangala Devi and Keshav Rai are the main temples. From the carvings done on the walls and pillars of these temples, it can be estimated how beautiful and grand this entire fort must have been. There is a babri next to Someshwar temple in which people from nearby villages still take bath.

History Of Bhangarh

Bhangarh Fort was built by Raja Bhagwant Das of Amer in 1573. After the settlement of Bhangarh, it remained inhabited for about 300 years. Raja Madho Singh, one of the Navratnas of Mughal Emperor Akbar and younger son of Bhagwant Das and younger brother of Mansingh, the great Mughal commander of Amber (Amer), later (1613) made it his residence. After Madho Singh, his son Chhatra Singh ascended the throne. In Vikram Samvat 1722, Hari Singh of this dynasty took over the throne. With this, the shine of Bhangarh started decreasing. Chhatra Singh’s son Ajab Singh built Ajabgarh nearby and started living there. This was the time of Aurangzeb’s rule. Aurangzeb was a fanatic Muslim. If he had not left his father then how could he leave him? Under his pressure, Hari Singh’s two sons became Muslims, who came to be known as Mohammad Coolij and Mohammad Dahleej. When these two brothers became Muslims and Aurangzeb’s hold on the rule loosened, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh of Jaipur killed them and captured Bhangarh and gave the throne to the descendants of Madho Singh.

Rajkumari Ratnawati aur Tantarik Sindhu Devada

It is said that Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh was very beautiful. At that time, her beauty was discussed in the entire kingdom and princes from every corner of the country were interested in marrying her. At that time he was only 18 years old and his youth had further enhanced his looks. At that time, marriage proposals were coming for her from many states. During that time, she once used to go out from the fort to the market with her friends. Princess Ratnathwati reached a perfume shop and was holding the perfumes in her hands and smelling them. At the same time, a person named Sindhu Sevda was standing at a short distance from that shop and watching them very carefully.

Sindhu Sevada of the same state; Lived in And he was a master of black magic. It is said that he was crazy about the beauty of the princess and was deeply in love with her. He wanted to get the princess by any means. So he came near that shop and put black magic on a perfume bottle which was liked by the queen, which was used for the subjugation of the princess. But a trusted person told the princess about this secret.

Princess Ratnakwati picked up the perfume bottle, but threw it on a nearby stone. As soon as it was thrown on the stone, the bottle broke and the entire perfume scattered on the stone. After this, he started following the Tantrik Sindhu Sevda while slipping on the stone and crushed the Tantrik, due to which he died on the spot. Before dying, the Tantrik cursed that all the people living in this fort would soon die and would not be able to be born again and their souls would keep wandering in this fort for the rest of their lives.

Just a few days after the death of that Tantrik, there was a war between Bhangarh and Ajabgarh in which all the people living in the fort were killed. Even Princess Ratnachavati could not escape the curse and she too died. After such a massive massacre in the same fort, the screams of death echoed there and even today their spirits roam in that fort.

Entrance Prohibited after Sunset

Excavations by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have provided ample evidence that the city is an ancient historical site. At present this fort is looked after by the Government of India. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) teams are present around the fort. ASI has given strict instructions that it is prohibited for any person to stay in this area after sunset.

This ruin has been preserved by Indian archaeology. It is worth noting that while the Archaeological Department has built its offices in every protected area, for the conservation of this fort, the Archaeological Department has built its office away from Bhangarh.

Temple of Bhangarh

There are many temples in this fort, among which the temples of Lord Someshwar, Gopinath, Mangala Devi and Keshav Rai are the main temples.

Someshwar Mahadev Temple

One specialty of these temples is that while the entire Bhangarh including the fort has been turned into ruins, all the temples of Bhangarh are fine, although the idols are missing from most of the temples. There is definitely a Shivalinga in Someshwar Mahadev Temple.

Shivalinga situated in the sanctum sanctorum of Someshwar Mahadev Temple.

Only the descendants of Sindhu Sevda Tantrik are performing worship in Someshwar Mahadev Temple of Bhangarh. The priest of that temple had told this. When asked about the ghosts, he said that it is true that there are ghosts here, but those ghosts live only in the ruined palace inside the fort and do not come down from the palace because Bhomiya ji’s place is very near the stairs of the palace. Who do not allow them to come out of the palace. He also said that you can stay in the fort premises at night, there is no problem but you should not go inside the palace.

If you want to hear the history of Bhangarh from the priest of Someshwar Mahadev Temple, then you should go on Monday because the priest stays in the temple the whole day on Monday and the rest of the day he goes back after worshiping in the morning.
