Hatkeswar Mahadev Chhattisgarh

There is a miraculous temple of Hatkeshwar Mahadev at Mahadev Ghat in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. An interesting story of Treta Yuga is attached to the Mahadev temple on the banks of the Kharun River. Due to which devotees come here to visit here not only from all over the country. This temple is famous as Mahadev Ghat because of being on the banks of the Kharun River. This temple of 500 year old Lord Shiva, located 8 km from Raipur city, is one of the major pilgrimage sites.
Devotees reach Mahadev Ghat to dive into the flood of faith. It is believed that with the mere sight of this Shivling, about 600 years old, every wish of the devotees is fulfilled. People come from every corner of the country to visit this temple, which is included in the famous temples of Chhattisgarh. The internal and outer chambers of this grand temple equipped with barricas carvings are formed. Priest Mahesh says that Lord Hatkeshwar Mahadev, the main adorable of this temple, is considered the patron deity of the Nagar Brahmins. There is a statue of Ramjanaki, Lakshman and Barhandeva near the Shivling installed in the sanctum sanctorum.

Hanumanji brought Shivji on his shoulder
Lord Hanuman ji brought Shiva here on his shoulder. Due to this story, this temple is known far and wide. It is believed that this temple was recognized at the time of Lord Shri Ram’s forest movement. When he was passing through this area of ​​Chhattisgarh during exile, this Shivling was established by Laxmanji. It is said that Hanumanji took out Shiva on his shoulder for establishment, later it was late by the time they went to invite the Brahmin deity. Here Lakshmanji was getting angry due to delay, because it was late at the time of establishment. Where the installation was planned, he did not do it on the banks of the Kharun river, not the time of establishment.
Special worship of pindadan
Pindadan is also done here for the peace of the soul of the ancestors by going in the middle of the Kharun River. Special puja recitation is also performed here like Gaya and Kashi.

Fair is held on Kartik-Purnima
The initial settlement of Raipur city took place in the Mahadev Ghat area on the banks of the Kharun River. The Kalchuri kings of Raipur first created their capital in this region. It is known from the inscriptions of King Brahmadev’s Vikram Samvat 1458 i.e. 1402 AD that Hajiraj built the Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple here. At present, many small and big temples have been built around the banks of the Kharun River. But the most important Hatkeshwar is the temple of Mahadev. This temple appears to be modern from outside, but it can be estimated to be north-central by looking at the entire structure. A big fair is held here at the time of Kartik-Purnima. The tomb of Swami Atmanand (1929–1981), the founder of Vivekananda Ashram, is also located in Mahadev Ghat itself.
