The Revati Ganesh Temple, situated on the sacred Girnar Mountain is linked with ancient legends surrounding Lord Ganesha and Revati, the wife of Lord Balarama (the elder brother of Lord Krishna).

Revati was the daughter of King Raivata, who ruled the kingdom of Kundinapur. She was known for her beauty, intelligence, and devotion. According to the Mahabharata and other ancient texts, Revati was married to Balarama, the elder brother of Lord Krishna.During their marriage, Revati’s father had arranged for a grand celebration at Girnar to mark the union, which later became an important location for both spiritual and royal activities.

On her journey to Girnar, Revati, in her deep devotion, prayed to Lord Ganesha, seeking his blessings for a prosperous and peaceful life. It is said that as she approached the mountain, the divine presence of Lord Ganesha manifested at this sacred spot, and the temple was established in his honor.Revati built a shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesha, who is believed to have blessed her with wisdom and strength for her married life.

After her prayer, Lord Ganesha is said to have appeared in the form of a stone idol at Girnar. This idol is believed to have been naturally formed or miraculously created, embodying Lord Ganesha’s power and blessing.

During the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, the temple sees a surge in visitors who climb the mountain to offer their prayers to Lord Ganesha. This period is marked with special rituals, prayers, and the recitation of Ganesh Aarti.

Devotees believe that Lord Ganesha, through his idol at this temple, helps them overcome obstacles in life and brings success and prosperity, just as he did for Revati.
