Shri Jain Derasar, Shrimali Society, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad,Gujarat
Navrangpura Jain Temple has been there since years… Though don’t know the exact date it was constructed… It is there prior to 1975. It was and is till today, patronized by Jain community living in Shrimali Society and societies surrounding the temple.
The main temple is dedicated to Shri Munisuvratswami, the 20th Tirthankar (God) of the Jains. From what I have heard of Jain legends, Shri Munisuvratswami is said to have lived during Ramayana times. His black coloured idol is very charming in it’s proportions. It is flanked on either sides by other Tirthankars.
The marble flooring is adorned with intricated inlay work done lately. The temple is very well maintained by trustees from time to time, the marble cladding outside has recently been mirror polished.
The idols are decorated daily with different jewelled ornaments, crown, clothes, and flowers, giving them a majestic look. The sweet smell of sandalwood being grinded in the temple for puja, and the inscense gives a spiritual atmosphere to the place.
On First floor is shrine dedicated to Sumatinath and other Tirthankars. On the left and right are small deris dedicated to Jain goddesses Chakreshwari Devi & Padmavati Devi. Their idols in yellow Jaiselmer stone are mesmerizing.
