Such a unique Shivalinga where the smell of goat comes

Ajgandheshwar Mahadev Temple is situated at the foothills of the hills of Ajaysar village, about 16 kilometers away from Ajmer city. According to religious beliefs, the Shivalinga present in the temple exists before the creation of the universe. It is believed that where the World Father Brahma himself had established the Ajagandheshwar Shivalinga. According to Puranas and religious scriptures, Pushkar is called the city of World Father Brahma.

It is said that it was from here that the Father of the Universe Brahma created the universe, but before that he performed the Srishti Yagya in the city where he had settled. When demons and demons started creating obstacles in the Srishti Yagya, then World Father Brahma established Shivalingas of Lord Shiva Shankar around Pushkar. So that Mahadev protects the Srishti Yagya. One of these four Shivalingas is Ajgandheshwar Mahadev Shivalinga. There are hills and forests around the temple. There is a natural rainy spring near the temple and just behind it is a small stepwell in the forest. Which is known as Ganga stepwell.

The local people have closed the upper end of the stepwell with an iron mesh and installed a hand pump there. It is said that the water of the stepwell never dries up. Ajgandheshwar Mahadev situated in the Pushkar forest area is a major pilgrimage site. Due to its natural beauty, it is also a picnic spot. Even today, in this holy place untouched by development, the relief artefacts on the temple are visible which reflect the architecture and civilization of that time.

Story of Ajgandheshwar Mahadev: Pilgrimage priest in Pushkar, Pandit Ravi Sharma, while narrating the glory of Ajgandheshwar Mahadev, says that in Pushkar, a demon named Vashkali had performed severe penance for 10 thousand years. Pleased with his penance, World Father Brahma had given him a boon that he would not die at the hands of any God, Goddess, Trinity or human being. Also, no weapon will be able to harm him. With the blessings of World Father Brahma, the demon had conquered Indralok. Lord Indra asked for help from the world father Brahma, then Indra was suggested to please Lord Shiva Shambhu by doing penance.

Indra performed severe penance and being pleased with his penance, Mahadev promised to kill the demon Vashkali. One day when the demon was returning to his luxury after bathing and worshiping in Pushkar Sarovar, he saw a big goat which was much bigger than the ordinary goat. Seeing that goat, the demon’s evil tendencies were awakened and he started chasing the goat with the intention of eating its meat. The demon reached this place while running after the goat. Here Mahadev killed the demon with the horn of the goat. After the end of the demon, Indra got Indralok.

World Father Brahma tried to stop Mahadev here and took a promise from him. But Mahadev kept Brahma’s promise and said that he would definitely stay here with his entire family for one day in a year. It is said that on the fourteenth day of Kartik month, Lord Shiva sits here with his family. Devotees have been coming for darshan of Ajgandheshwar for centuries. The unique thing here is that even today, every devotee with devotion, after offering water to Shivlinga, rubs the Shivlinga with both his hands. The special thing is that not everyone has this smell. It is said that only true devotees of Shiva get this experience.
