Alakeshwar Mahadev Mandir is situated away from Chamoli town on the banks of Gopeshwar mode and Alaknanda river. The temple is built in a very beautiful Evam Sadharan style. There is also a Mata temple near the main garbhagrah of the temple. A big statue of Shiv Parvati is installed in the courtyard of the temple. There are pictures of sages, sages, Ganesha etc. on the outer walls of the temple. A black colored Shivling is installed in the temple. The construction of the temple is said to have been done 200 years ago. There is also a Hanuman temple in the temple.
