In July 1966, Srila Prabhupada established there what he himself called a spiritual community for the whole world to
live in.
He called it the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON),
which became popularly known as the Hare Krishna movement.
At the time of its establishment, Srila Prabhupada did not have a single disciple.
Undeterred, he appointed a number of volunteers from the small group who regularly attended his evening lectures
as ISKCON's first plenipotentiaries.
Meanwhile, ISKCON has grown into a widespread organization of temples, farms,
restaurants and preaching centers around the world.
It is estimated that ISKCON consists of over 30,000 active initiates and 250,000 congregation members worldwide.
With about 350 centres, 60 farms, 50 schools and 60 restaurants, you will find us in almost every major city.
