History
The temple’s name is deeply intertwined with the epic Hindu Ramayana.Anjani Mahadev Temple story is attributed to Anjani, the mother of Hindu God Hanuman. She prayed to Lord Shiva and meditated for his darshan at this very place, after receiving upadesha of Panchakshara Mantra from the Saptarshis.
Anjani eventually gave birth to Hanuman, who became one of the most important figures among Hindus. Hanuman is known for his strength, courage, and devotion to Lord Rama. He is also considered to be the protector of mankind.
This Shiva Linga was discovered by Guru Baba Prakash Puri Ji Maharaj (Baba) after he had a divine vision about it.
This place is also called as Amarnath of Kullu region.
The spray of the waterfall from above serves as a natural ‘Abhishek’. This Shiv ling (Hindu faith) symbolizes Cosmic egg.
The icy Shivalinga of Anjani Mahadev forms during winter, from November to February.
The size of the Lingam varies with the seasons as it grows in winter and melts away during summer.
The holy fig tree under which Hanuman is said to have been born is considered a sacred site. Devotees tie sacred threads (kalava) around the tree to make wishes and offer prayers. The leaves of the tree are also believed to have medicinal properties.
The temple complex also houses a sacred pond known as the Anjani Kund. It is believed that taking a dip in the pond can cure ailments and bring good luck.
