Arulmigu Kadambavaneswarar Temple Kulithalai,Tamil Nadu

This temple is 119th Thevara Paadal Petra Shiva sthalam and 2nd Sthalam on the south side of river Kaveri in Chozha Nadu. During 6th to 7th Century this place was called as Kadambathurai and now called as Kulithalai / Kuzhithalai and the inscriptions mentions as, Kulirthandalai. This place is on the way to Karur from Tiruchirappalli. It is believed that it will be auspicious to worship “Morning Kadambar at Kulithalai, after noon Rathnagiriswarar at Thiruvatpokki and Evening Sri Maragadachaleswarar at Thiru Engoyi malai”. Since the temple is facing North similar to Kashi, hence called as Dakshina Kashi.

Kulittalai Kadambavaneswarar Temple is a Hindu temple located at Karur district of Tamil Nadu, India. The presiding deity is Shiva. He is called as Kadambavaneswarar. His consort is Mutrila Mulaiammai.

It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams. Thirunavukkarasar have sung hymns in praise of the temple. It is believed that Shiva appeared for sage Kanva in the Kadamba forest and hence the place came to be known as Kadambanthurai. It is also counted among the many temples on the banks of river Cauvery.
