Baba Vishvanath Mandir Chaudhariyapur Kannauj

Vishwanath temple of Chaudharyapur in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh remains the center of faith of the devotees. The temple of Baba Vishwanath built on the banks of river Ganga is telling the story of its antiquity and grandeur. Chaudhariyapur village is situated on the banks of Ganga, at a distance of about three kilometers from the city, where an ancient temple of Lord Vishwanath is built. The temple is at such a height that one has to climb many stairs to reach it. There are many ancient beliefs about the history of Baba Vishwanath Temple.
It is believed that Shivalinga was established here long before the reign of Emperor Harshvardhan. According to Shivkumar Singh Chandel, General Secretary of Baba Vishwanath Barahi Devi Seva Samiti, this temple was established around the eighth century. There is a legend that this Shivling came to Mother Ganga from the Himalayan Mountains while flowing in Mother Ganga.
