Bada Hanuman Mandir Amritsar,Punjab
Unique miraculous temple in the country, where the wish of the son is fulfilled by visiting
On Hanuman Jayanti, we are telling you about such a miraculous temple, a belief associated with which is quite famous. By going here, the wish of the son is fulfilled.
Although Amritsar is famous for the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and Wagha Border, the big Hanuman temple here is no less important. Every year a fair of langurs is held here and children from all over the country and abroad come to become langurs.
This is the belief: The idol of Shri Hanuman ji installed in this very ancient temple is in a sitting posture as if Hanuman ji is sitting in a resting posture. It is believed that this temple is built on the holy land where Hanuman ji was tied to a banyan tree during the war between Lord Rama’s army and Luv-Kush in the Ramayana period, as Shri Hanuman ji had gone to rescue the horse of Ashwamedha Yagna from Luv-Kush.
Therefore, children are made langurs: It is said that women who do not get sons, they come to this temple with full faith and ask for a vow that on getting a son, the children will be made langurs of Shri Hanuman. On the completion of the prayer hundreds of small boys wear a special kind of robe of red color and with sticks in their hands roam inside and outside the temple dancing with their relatives in the field.
According to Narayan, the priest of the temple, those who come to become langurs have to take care of many things. For example, offering sweets, coconuts, 2 flower garlands in the puja, wearing the uniform after taking blessings from the priest, then dancing to the beat of the drum and coming to the temple to bow down twice daily. If he is ill, he takes blessings from the temple. Apart from this, the langur maker can not run needle thread work and scissors for 10 days.
According to priest Narayan, a child who becomes a langur has to recite the Hanuman Chalisa 11 times. The langur can be brought to the temple by the person who has a blood relationship with the child. The fair held here every year lasts for 10 days starting from the first Navratri of the month of Kartik and the Banyan tree is still present in the temple.
