Bada Shivala, Bibiganj Lucknow
Mahadev resides here in his biggest form, just by seeing him all the sorrows go away.
Baba Bholenath is present in his giant form with Rudri Mala in the ancient Bada Shivala, the center of people’s faith. It is said that by doing Jalabhishek of Baba throughout the month of Sawan, all the troubles go away.
Local people say that earlier Kashmiri families lived around this hundreds of years old temple. The same people seated Baba here in a giant form. At that time, there was no other such huge Shivalinga anywhere in the city, so it was also named Bada Shivala.
Gradually this name became famous far and wide. A garland made of hundreds of Rudraksha is also carved in two circles on the Argha of Shivalinga. Only Shivalinga and Nandi are installed in this pagoda built keeping the ten directions in mind.
There is a mythological belief that when Bholenath goes out to kill the wicked, only Nandi stays with him. In such a situation, it is believed that just by seeing this Shivalinga, Baba takes away all the problems and sorrows.
Here the enemies of the worshiper are defeated at every step. Baba is worshiped here every day throughout the month of Sawan. Apart from adornment and worship, women’s kirtan also takes place in Baba’s temple from morning to evening.
