Bahe Borgaon Maruti temples Located on the bank of Krishna river near Borgav. Temple is located on island called as “Ramlinga Bet”.The temple is located at Bahe near Walwa in Sangli district of Maharastra.This is one of the 11 temple established by Shri Swami Samarth Ramdas in this vicinity of Chaphal-Satara area in Maharashtra.
Samarth Ramdas installed the Maruti idol here in 1651 behind the Ram temple. It is said that Ram and Laxman rested briefly in the village Bahe on their way back from slaying Ravan.
This temple is a Jagrut place. The idol here is majestic and wears a rown.
There is an ancient island named Ramlinga Bet in the river bed near by. There is a Ram temple on this island and a Shivalinga on the opposite side of Sri Rama.The Hanuman idol is installed in the area behind the temple of Lord Sri Rama who is in a stance of diverting Krishna river water flow using his both hands.
Legend
Legend says that Lord Sri Rama along with wife Sita and brother Lakshmana stayed here for a while on their way back to Ayodhya after killing the demon Ravana. Then Rama and Lakshmana went to take bath in Krishna river.After taking bath, Sri Rama worshipped the Shivalinga in Krishna river.During the midst of Rama’s Meditation, there was a big flood occured on River Krishna due to this the Meditation of Shri Rama’s would have been disturbed. Lord Hanuman watching the full swing flow of river Krishna spread his both hands and obstructed the flow of river and diverted the path of river water on both side of his hands. It is believed that because of this one island was formed, where Idol of Shri Hanuman spreading both his hands and obstructing the river water.As a result of this,a pool which is an island is formed. This river is bifurcated due to the obstruction of Bhima’s shoulders and gets united into a single stream after flowing for a short distance .
Hence this place is called as ‘Bahe’ (shoulders).
