Barela Mahadev Temple: After going 1.5 kilometers further on Ghorawal Road from Robertsganj Dharamshala, Barela Mahadev Temple is found. Which is situated on the south side at a distance of 50 meters from the main road.
This temple is famous because of the power and devotion of Mahadev Prabhu Shankar ji.
Every day around a thousand people come to this place and offer water to Lord Shiva to fulfill their wishes.

By fulfilling the wishes of the devotees, the name Barela came to be known as

Sonbhadra. The glory of Baraila Mahadev, situated on Robertsganj-Ghorawal road, just two km from the district headquarters, is immense. The wishes of the devotees were fulfilled by the darshan and worship of the Shivalinga established during the reign of King Vikramaditya, so they named this Shivalinga as Baraila (giver of boons) Mahadev. Due to being a Kamukhi Shivling, it is said to have special importance. The inscription here also remains an incomprehensible puzzle. Even the people of the Archeology Department have not been able to read anything more than Samvat 700 written on this inscription. The annual Shringar held here on the last Wednesday of Shravan immerses the devotees in devotion. A huge crowd gathers for darshan on Basantpanchami and Shivratri.

It is believed that King Vikramaditya himself came here and offered prayers. At the same time, while going to Gupteshwar Mahadev during Agyavatvas, Pandavas also stayed here for some time and they wished to get rid of their sorrows by worshiping Lord Shiva. Even at present, there is no specific information regarding when the Shivalinga installed in the temple dates back to who installed it. The team of Archeology Department which came from Lucknow five years ago has also considered this Shivalinga and the worship going on here as very ancient. Devnath (chief priest) of the priest family, who has been worshiping Lord Bholenath for generations, says that the people of the Archeology Department, after analyzing the words engraved on the inscription, had considered the history of this temple to be from the time of Vikram Samvat 700 or even older. Even he could not read the entire article. Two years ago, some devotees had constructed the existing temple. The Badhar royal family had installed the idol of Maa Shitala on the western side of the temple three hundred years ago. It is believed that there are obstacles in the marriage of any young man or woman. If he visits and worships in this temple, his obstacle gets removed. At the same time, the darshan of Baraila Mahadev is considered very beneficial for a person who is deprived of children, suffering from diseases and other problems. Due to its one-faced form, Rudrabhishek is considered to have special significance here. For this reason, people are eager to perform Rudrabhishek here on special occasions.
