Bhagawan Mahavir Janma Smarak, Basokund, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Bihar is recognized as the birthplace of Lord Mahavira . This place is situated in Kshatriyakund of Vaishali Republic, where Lord Mahavira was born, which was 599 years before Christ. There is an ancient Jain temple here, and many people worship at the place, including non-Jain followers of Jainism. Several initiatives have been taken to develop the place, including the laying of the foundation stone of the memorial in 1956 by the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, was born in Kundagrama, near Vaishali, in present-day Bihar, India. He was born around 599 BCE into a royal family. His father was King Siddhartha, and his mother was Queen Trishala. Lord Mahavira is known for spreading the principles of non-violence, truth, and compassion.
