Legend
According to legend, Vaishno Devi was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and she used to meditate in a cave. It is said that Bhairon Nath saw the young Vaishno Devi at an agricultural fair and fell madly in love with her. Vaishno Devi fled into Trikuta hills to escape his amorous advances, later she assumed the form of Mahakali and cut off his head with her sword in a cave. His body was held at the entrance to the cave, and his head landed further up the mountain at a place where a Bhairon Nath temple is now located. Bhairo then repented and pleaded for forgiveness.Touched by his honesty, the goddess freed him of the cycle of reincarnation. Along with that she blessed him by having a shrine made for Bhairavnath on the way to the Vaishno Devi temple.
The goddess forgave him and said that no pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi will be complete without visiting the Bhairav Temple.
It is believed that Lord Bhairav frees his devotees from the consequences of sins and bad karma. It aids in reducing the negative impacts of Rahu, Ketu, and Shani doshas. It aids us in overcoming the effects of dark magic. It provides relief from long-term issues and miseries in our life.
