Bhrigu Mandir,Bhrigu Ashram,Ballia

Share

Bhrigu Ashram is a Hindu religious place located in Ballia city of Uttar Pradesh state of India. Here is the oldest temple of Ballia district. It is believed that Maharishi Bhrigu used to have an ashram here and he had composed Bhrigu Samhita here.

Maharishi Bhrigu, the progenitor of the Bhargava dynasty, is known to the general public as a sage, the creator of Bhrigu Samhita, a Brahmin who became Brahma in Yagyas and a sage who kicked Lord Vishnu’s chest in the test of the Trinity. But the history of these Bhargavas is scattered across this globe from Asia, America to the African continent. 7500 BC, during the period of Sumeru civilization which emerged from the Proto-Elamite civilization, when Pracheta Brahma was created. The history of Bhargava dynasty begins from here. Maharishi Bhrigu was born from the womb of Veerani, wife of Pracheta Brahma. These were two brothers from their mother. His elder brother’s name was Angira. The archaeologists Dr. Frankfort, Langdon, Sir John Marshall and the American archaeologist Dr. D. Terra, researchers of the Proto-Elamite civilization, have described the Sumeru-Khetti-Hittite-Cretan civilization as the original civilization of Egypt, in fact it is the civilization of the Bhargavas. Proto-Elamite civilization is the story of the struggle for world conquest of Chakshush Manus and his grandson Angira. At the time when Maharishi Bhrigu was born, his father Pracheta Sushanagar was the king of this region which later came to be known as Persia and Iran. At this time, Pracheta, who held the post of Brahma, had two of his wives living with him. First was Bhrigu’s mother Veerani and second was Urvasi of Urpur whose son was Vashishtha ji. Maharishi Bhrigu also had two marriages, his first wife was Divya, daughter of Daityaraj Hiranyakashyap. The second wife was Paulami, daughter of demon king Pulom. पBhrigu Muni had two sons from his wife Divya Devi, daughter of the demon king Hiranyakashyap, whose names were Shukra and Tvashta. Among Bhargavas, after becoming Acharya, Shukra was known as Shukracharya and after becoming a craftsman, Tvashta was known as Vishwakarma. These sons of Bhrigu Muni have been known as “Kavya” and Tvashta as “May” in their matrilineal family i.e. Daitya clan. Bhrigu Muni’s second wife Paulami, daughter of demon king Pulom, had three children, two sons named “Chyavan” and “Richik” and a daughter named “Renuka”. Chyavan Rishi was married to Sukanya, daughter of Sharyati, the king of Gulf of Khambhat, Gujarat. Maharishi Bhrigu got “Richik married” with “Satyavati, daughter of King Gadhi” of Gadhipuri (present-day Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh state) by giving one thousand black horses in dowry. Bhrigu Muni married daughter Renuka to Vivaswan (Surya), who was occupying the position of Vishnu at that time. His status also increased significantly due to these marriages. There are two stories in the mythological texts about the arrival of Maharishi Bhrigu from Sushanagar to Dharmaranya (present-day Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh) in India. A war of supremacy broke out between Daityaraj Hiranyakashyap, the father of Bhrigu Muni’s first wife Divya Devi, and Lord Vishnu, the husband of his daughter Renuka, In this fight, Maharishi Bhrigu’s wife Divya supported her father Daityaraj Hiranyakashyap. Angered Vishnu ji killed his step-mother-in-law Divya Devi. To prevent this family feud from continuing further, Maharishi Bhrigu’s grandfather Rishi Marichi advised Bhrigu Muni to move out of Sushanagar, and he came to Dharmaranya.

The second story is found in the concluding section of Padmapuran, according to which Maharishi Bhrigu was chosen as the arbiter to test the Trinity in the yagya being held on Mandaranchal mountain. When Bhrigu ji reached Kailash to test Lord Shankar, at that time Shankar ji was visiting with his wife Parvati, the Shiva devotees did not allow Maharishi to meet him, on the contrary, he insulted him and sent him away from Kailash. Considering Lord Shiva as Tamoguni, Bhrigu cursed him that from today onwards only his penis would be worshipped. From here, Maharishi Bhrigu reached the Brahmalok of his father Brahmaji, where both his parents were sitting together, thinking that it is their son who must have come to meet him. Maharishi was not felicitated, then he got angry and declared Brahma ji as Rajoguni and cursed him that he would not be worshiped anywhere. Furious with anger, Maharishi reached Lord Vishnu’s shrine (Persian Gulf), there too Lord Vishnu was resting in Kshirsagar, his wife was pressing his feet. The angry Maharishi hit his chest with his foot. Lord Vishnu caught hold of Maharishi’s feet and said, “My hard chest did not hurt your feet.” Maharishi was pleased and declared him the best among the gods. According to the story, angry with this way of testing Maharishi, Marichi Rishi ordered him to go to the banks of Ganga in Ballia to absolve himself by performing penance in Dharmaranya. In this way, Bhrigu Muni came to Ballia from Sushanagar (Iran) with his second wife Paulami. Here he opened a Gurukul, at that time the people here did not know how to do farming, he cleared the forest for farming and taught them to do farming. Staying here, he composed the great book of astrology, Bhrigusamhita. Later, through his astrological calculations, he came to know that the water of river Ganga flowing here would dry up after some time. Then he sent his disciple Dardar and brought the flow of river Saryu, which was flowing till Ayodhya at that time, here and created the confluence of Ganga and Saryu. In whose memory even today the Dadri fair is held here. The descendants of Maharishi Bhrigu ruled from here to Africa. Where he was known as Khufu. From here, human civilization developed and reached America via Australia. America’s ancient Maya-Maya civilization is the gift of the Bhargavas.
