Sheopur: The Bhuteshwar Mahadev temple of the city is historical.

History of Bhuteshwar Mahadevar Temple: This temple is said to be 5705 years old. The O-shaped river Seep washes the feet of Lord Shiva here. A three-day fair is held here on every Mahashivratri. The view here is beautiful in the month of Sawan. Bel leaves are offered here throughout the month and anointment of Lord Shiva is performed every Monday.

The pindi of the Bhuteshwar temple is so big that till date no one has seen its condition in the ground. The saint told that during the construction of the temple, 5 feet excavation was done around the hindi, but the end of the pindi could not be reached. The priest says that the Ichchadhari snakes have come many times for darshan of the Bhuteshwar Mahadev temple, which he has seen with his own eyes. It is said that the Pandavas spent some of their 14 years of exile here. It was he who had established the Shivalinga of Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple for worship. During the installation of Shivalinga, the creator Brahmaji had chanted mantras. Another famous legend is that Netaji Subhash Chandra also spent the last time of his life at this place. Many things related to Netaji are still there in Sheopur. This temple is mentioned in Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta. This temple is situated 5 km away from the city. There are Siddheshwar, Nageshwar, Bhuteshwar Mahadev temples. There are five temples of Lord Shiva in this Dham built on the banks of Seep River. In all these, Lord Achaleshwar is present in pindi form.
